Bartec Auto IDEnquiries
West Suffolk Councils was formed in 2008, creating a shared service structure with Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council. Services are provided across three operational depots in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Mildenhall with a fleet of 43 refuse collection vehicles covering more than 2,100 commercial customers and 75,000 residential households.
In order to increase efficiency, it became clear that the some of the old business processes needed to be streamlined and West Sussex Councils put out a tender for a single database system to replace a number of inherited back-office systems. In August 2015, Bartec Auto ID were awarded the contract to implement Collective, their operations management system.
In November 2015, due to a 'difficult financial regime', West Suffolk decided to introduce a subscription-based garden waste service. In order to fulfill this, the solution required the Collective system to be tightly integrated with West Suffolk's financial and CRM systems.
Collective handles all elements of the subscription process, from assigning bin delivery jobs to the relevant crews and then organising collection schedules, to communicating with customers via automated emails, without any manual intervention.
At the time of writing, almost 40% of households have taken up the subscription, servicing almost 30,000 premises. 64% of these subscriptions are received online and are automatically put into active service without any manual intervention.
Luton’s Bins App is live and already in use by a staggering number of Luton residents after only 2 weeks. This app is a very low cost way to give your residents a free and very convenient way to check their bin collection days and more besides. It’s immensely popular with users and we can set it up without any fuss or IT costs in less than a month.
Would you like to give your residents an app to check their Christmas collection dates?

We want to make sure that our internal staff are not inundated with sales calls unrelated to our business and that our customers and potential customers are always routed quickly to someone who can help and we can get it right first time. We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new Directors at Bartec Auto ID Ltd across strategically important areas of our business. We welcome Matt Woods as Operations Director and Phil Wilson as Finance Director both forming part of our growth strategy for the coming years.
Matt Woods, Operations Director
Matt, Operations Director, joined Bartec in 2013 to take up the role of General Manager, tasked with project managing the design and build of the company’s refurbished head office in Barnsley, following an impressive career-to-date. He has since implemented restructuring of the company’s production, purchasing and quality systems and overseen the acceleration of the company design and development projects.
Matt had previously enjoyed a career which included the successful project management of several diverse multi-million pound projects. He has always exhibited a flair for management and, more recently, implemented those skills by managing his own successful business.
Phil Wilson, Finance Director
Phil joined the team in 2015 bringing real financial pedigree. He holds two of the premier business qualifications in the world (being an ICAEW chartered accountant and a JIEB qualified business recovery professional) and over 10 years’ experience in advising business owners and managers in a vast array of transactions in the SME sphere. Far from the ivory tower accountant he brings a wealth of commercial and operational experience, together with a real eye for detail to the team.
On being appointed to the Board, Phil said, ‘I’m delighted to be joining a really responsive and progressive board with real ambition to grow the Company both organically through product and market development, and through strategic acquisition, together with the resource and know how to do it sustainably. Bartec has always outwardly been very proud of the quality of its’ offerings and customer service, but that ethos of quality and co-operation rings true internally as well, from top to bottom. We have a great team and set up here.’
