Project Officer

Salary - £18,000 to £22,000 (pro-rata)

An enthusiastic and ambitious Project Officer is required by a growing technology company based at their headquarters in Barnsley.  The company supplies software and hardware to local authorities and waste management operators in the UK and to automotive manufacturers and their supply chain worldwide from offices in Michigan, USA and Frankfurt, Germany..

The successful candidate will assist the Project Managers of a software house with key projects. The role will involve all aspects of delivering high quality software solutions to customers.
The candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be expected create high-quality documentation for the company’s projects.  In doing so they will assist Project Managers with reporting and administration and work with other departments in the company to test and deliver systems on time and in compliance with our high standards..

Main duties:

  • Create and maintain documentation for ongoing projects
  • Regular audits of projects for compliance and progress
  • Report writing (highlight reports, board updates etc) for management team
  • Testing software against specifications
  • Second line product support

The ideal candidate will require:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detais
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent customer facing skills
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work under own initiative and pressure

Knowledge of project management methodologies will be an advantage but training will be given.
This role may be suitable for flexible working hours.

Technical Author

Salary - £20,000 to £24,000

A junior “Technical Author” is required by a growing technology company based at their headquarters in Barnsley. The company supplies software and hardware to local authorities and waste management operators in the UK and to automotive manufacturers and their supply chain worldwide from offices in Michigan, USA and Frankfurt, Germany.

The candidate will be expected to work on their own initiative under the guidance of the company’s technical staff and project managers to create and maintain technical documentation and training materials and support their colleagues in planning and delivery of training and customer support.

They will assess and manage conflicting priorities, communicate requirements effectively and have excellent customer facing skills.

The role will suit applicants with at least 5 good GCSE grades looking to further a career in IT applications engineering. The successful applicant can expect to gain good skills in software testing, technical authoring and an exposure to PRINCE II-based project management techniques.

Main duties:

  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation for software, hardware and associated systems integrations
  • Gathering and disseminating feedback from users
  • Create and maintain project documentation using online systems
  • Quality testing documentation to ensure resources are accurate and up to date
  • Compiling and maintaining online ‘knowledge base’ resources
  • Co-ordination of internal resources, client resources and external suppliers

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An eye for detail and presentation
  • Be logical & objective
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Be self-motivated and ambitious and have the ability to work under your own initiative and under pressure

Software Developer – Mobile Business Apps

Salary - £28,000 to £32,000

An enthusiastic and ambitious Android developer is required by a growing technology company based at their headquarters in Barnsley. The company supplies software and hardware to local authorities and waste management operators in the UK and to automotive manufacturers and their supply chain worldwide from offices in Michigan, USA and Frankfurt, Germany.

The company is the market-leader in in-cab and mobile software for the refuse and recycling collection market and is rapidly creating new products for local councils in a variety of front-line applications. In addition they are building companion apps for their wide range of automotive test and diagnostic tools.

The successful candidate will work in a team of around 8 developers creating a small number of commercial apps for desktop and mobile users. Within a supportive team environment they will build applications for in-vehicle and mobile use by municipal workers and automotive engineers in the UK and around the world.

Main duties:

  • Software development of programs and components
  • Software testing
  • Software documentation
  • Development support to the company Support staff
  • General technical advice to company Sales staff

The ideal candidate will require:

  • Good experience of Visual Studio and C#
  • Working knowledge of Android and/or iOS development
  • Experience with Xamarin an advantage
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work under own initiative and pressure
